rsa_elite_text-900x131ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE DIRECTOR OF COACHING, STEVE RICHARDS

Cost: $450 (Summer/Fall)
$345 (Winter/Spring)

The “Dev” Program is a program centered on the principles of early player development for boys and girls aged 6-10.  The curriculum we have created is conducive to the specific needs of all players, and not just for the best athletes. Our program is founded on the principles of benchmark learning.  Our players are placed in challenging training scenarios and matches for the purpose of building their abilities in incremental stages.  As a result, our players are able to demonstrate mastery in appropriate phases, and our professional coaches are able to objectively evaluate that progress using our cutting-edge curriculum. In doing this, all of our Dev players are engaged in competitive environments that set them up for success.  Though our philosophy is to place our youngest players in positions to be challenged, we pride ourselves on the foundational truth that we will never put our players in positions to fail mentally, spiritually, or emotionally.  Rather, The Development Director’s goal is to foster creativity, imagination, and game intelligence in all of our players. We believe the most important component of soccer for young players is technique. Without technique there are no tactics.  Technical competence is accomplished through repetition. The brain eventually triggers an automated response when a skill is performed often enough. The unconscious production of a skill takes less time than a conscious reproduction. Very little repetition takes place in the game, so all aspects of technique must be taught while in practice so that they are replicating a more realistic game environment. Players must learn to be efficient at game speed and in a game situation if they wish to be successful at the next level.  This is the only way the skill will transfer into the game successfully.

The RSA Elite Dev Program consists of the following learning opportunities for the player.

Summer/Fall season. In the Summer, teams train with an RSA Elite Staff Coach twice a week and participate in summer tournaments. In the Fall, teams train with an RSA Elite Staff Coach twice a week and play in US Club Soccer’s PSPL (Puget Sound Premier League) Fall season.
Winter/Spring training. In the Winter, teams train with an RSA Elite Staff Coach twice a week in the months of January and February. In the Spring season, teams train with an RSA Elite Staff Coach twice a week and play in US Club Soccer’s PSPL (Puget Sound Premier League) Spring season.
